As an educator, I face the ever-challenging task of discovering new and engaging ways to teach the historically rich curriculum while competing with the technologies of the age that drive this generation. Yet, my creativity and spunk weave into each lesson. I’ve taught history, writing, and science for over eight years at a truly unique school in Chattanooga, TN where the ethnicity is like a remarkably woven tapestry of art. I reference the actions, beliefs, and words of history to mold and model the lessons in my classroom; looking to past events to guide future ones. My fondest memories and lessons growing up were in the kitchen.
